Hi,

I am American and my husband is Italian. Our children (currently 3 1/2 and 2) attend the local public school in Alella and speak English, Italian, Spanish and Catalan. As Italian, Spanish and Catalan have so much in common, English is the "bicho raro" so I want to use the summer vacation as an opportunity to have intensive English at home.

We both work from home and want our house to be the base, if possible (to avoid a car commute), although the idea is that if the weather is nice you will be out & about. We will be in a flat with an inside as well as outside communal pools, located within walking distance of the town center, parks, walks in the vineyards, etc.

The main job is speaking English to the children, teaching them to speak politely (no, "I want..." "Give me..." etc.) naming things to develop vocabulary, correcting them (kindly, but consistently). I am a firm believer in real-life learning and independence. So, for example, going with them to the local grocery store to buy fruit and the food that they eat, taking the dogs for walks, making their beds in the morning, etc.

Ideally you would work from 9am until 2pm, so playing / running kid-friendly errands with them from 9-1 and then feeding them lunch and reading stories before a 2pmish naptime, at which point your job is done.

If you can get to Alella with public transportation you don't need a car.

ps Normally for a committment of 10+ hours per week we offer 8 EUR per hour, so this would be 800 EUR per month for a part-time job. If things work out, we can consider having fixed hours during the school year and/or a repeat for the following summer!
